updating while upholding tradition in Dupont Circle

This complex job involved updating a large 19th century rowhouse in Dupont Circle, while maintaining its original charm and details. The update included not only modernizing the home's systems but also carving two income-producing units out of the basement and first floor of the building, mitigating the high cost of living in a large house in a popular urban neighborhood.

We took great pains to retain much of the original flooring, moldings, windows and doors to honor the building's rich history, while implementing the architect's modern updates in the kitchen and bathrooms. The result is a modern and comfortable home that blends into the historic fabric of the neighborhood.
